The oldest wheel and axle mechanism we've found was near Ljubljana, Slovenia, and dates to roughly 3100 B.C.The wheel made the transportation of goods much faster and more efficient.

http://www.geniusstuff.com/blogs/10-inventions-changed-world2.htm

It all started in China, where gunpowder was first created. In the ninth century, alchemists blended charcoal, saltpeter and sulfur into a powder called huo yao, which was used to treat skin infections. Armies quickly learned the powder could be used in bombs, mines and other weapons. Gunpowder was transported to Europe in the 13th century, likely over the Silk Road trade routes through central Asia. Rival nations refined gunpowder recipes in the ensuing centuries before arriving at the optimum mixture: approximately 75 percent saltpeter, 15 percent charcoal and 10 percent sulfur.

http://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/inventions/who-invented-the-first-gun.htm

Lineta Kopāne

The inventor is usually considered by Alexander Greiem Bell, who was made in Boston in 1876, although there are other variants of its origin.

The phone structure is in the simplest case an electrical circuit-coupled sensitive microphone (the creation and improvement of which was an important part of the phone's creation) and the speakerphone. These two devices are built into a telephone handset, although earlier in the early 20th century there were phones with these components separately.

Krista Arule

The history of pencil has started in England in the middle of 16th century, when an unknown mineral deposit was found,called graphite. Pencil cores were made from these minerals. Then good graphite cost a lot of money and it was necessary to invent a new kind of graphite cores making it cheaper. A technology for mixing glue, sulpfur and graphit was created in Germany. These pencils were cheaper, less quality and more difficult to write, but were applicable.The scientist and inventor Nikola Jackques Conte invented the method of making the core - the burning of graphite, clay starch, soot and water mixture, which has survived to the present day.

Diāna Ivdre

A telephone, or phone, is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly. A telephone converts sound, typically and most efficiently the human voice, into electronic signals suitable for transmission via cables or other transmission media over long distances, and replays such signals simultaneously in audible form to its user.

In 1876, Scottish emigrant Alexandr Graham Bell was the first to be granted a United States patent for a device that produced clearly intelligible replication of the human voice. This instrument was further developed by many others. The telephone was the first device in history that enabled people to talk directly with each other across large distances. Telephones rapidly became indispensable to businesses, government, and households, and are today some of the most widely used smallappliances.

Viktorija Koļuševa.

First clock

A clock is an instrument to measure, keep, and indicate time. The word clock is derived from the celtic words clagan and cloccameaning bell. A silent instrument missing such a striking mechanism has traditionally been known as a timepiece. In general usage today, a "clock" refers to any device for measuring and displaying the time. Watches and other timepieces that can be carried on one's person are often distinguished from clocks.
</sup>

The clock is one of the oldest human inventories, meeting the need to measure intervals of time shorter than the natural units: the day, the lunar month, and the year. Devices operating on several physical processes have been used over the millennia. A sundial shows the time by displaying the position of a shadow on a flat surface. There is a range of duration timers, a well-known example being the hourglass. Water clocks, along with the sundials, are possibly the oldest time-measuring instruments. A major advance occurred with the invention of the verge escampe which made possible the first mechanical clocks around 1300 in Europe, which kept time with oscillating timekeepers like balance wheels spring-driven clocks appeared during the 15th century. During the 15th and 16th centuries, clockmaking flourished. The next development in accuracy occurred after 1656 with the invention of the pendulum clock. A major stimulus to improving the accuracy and reliability of clocks was the importance of precise time-keeping for navigation. The electric clockwas patented in 1840. The development of electronicsin the 20th century led to clocks with no clockwork parts at all.
