Camilla could breakdown the word such as ology then she will know it's the study of something. In addition, it can help her in life if she doesn't recognize a word a fully but might be able to get some idea of what it means.

The suffix, "ology" would be for the study of. The word root/combining form would also help her get closer to her definition. "gastr/o" is related to stomach and "enter" is related to the intestines.

Also, the enter is the intestanits. So know we know that the word gastroenterology has to do something with the study of the stomach and i.

gastroenterology means the study of normal function and diseases of the stomach, small intestine. Breaking the word down into smaller parts can give you an easier way to understand the more intimidating term itself. You break the word down to the prefix, suffix and root of the word. The prefix gastro- means something of the stomach, the root would be enter/o- means intestine and the suffix is -ology means study of. Using the suffix to start the definition.

It's important to learn word parts so that long words that you might not already know, like gastroenterology, aren't hard to figure out. By knowing what each word part contributes to the overall definition, you may not even need to look it up to know. She could split it up by slashes: gastro(stomach)/enter(in)/ology(study of). Gastroenterology is the study of disease in the stomach.

If Camila breaks a complex word down to its root, prefix, and suffix, she can define each component and make a valid prediction as to what the overall word means. The overall word could mean the study of stomach issues.
