It's the end of the world. "They" have taken over and only a few lucky ones have survived including Amy. She is resourceful, brave, and intelligent. In a world where you must focus on yourself and survival first, Amy opens her heart to a toddler who she finds, helps keep alive, and loves.
Shockingly, they are rescued and taken to a New Hope. At first it seems like a haven for survivors but soon they discover that New Hope is not all that it seems. The question becomes who's more dangerous: the "monsters" on the outside who devour humans as meals or the "monsters" on the inside whose disturbed moral compass leads to corruption and death.

5 Stars-If you like post-apocalyptic thrillers, brave protagonists, and a hint of romance, you will love this book!

In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, rural retribution for a past rebellion, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors while the citizens of Panem are required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives.
I give this a 5 star rating and would recommend it to people who like thrillers.

Doctor Faustus is about a well-respected German scholar, Faustus becomes dissatisfied with the simple forms of knowledge. He wanted to learn beyond logic, medicine, law, and religion. Faustus decides to practice magic. His friends Valdes and Cornelius teach him everything they know about black arts, soon after he starts a new career as a magician by summoning up Mephastophilis, a 🤬. Mephastophilis warned Faustus about the horrors of 🤬. Faustus unphased tells Mephastophilis to return to his master, Lucifer, with an offer of Faustus’s soul in exchange for twenty-four years of service from Mephastophilis.
I would rate this book a 5 if you like reading plays, and if you also like tragic ending.

This book is about a machine that has the ability to predict the user’s death with just a sample of their blood. No one knows how this machine came to, but still many people use this machine to see how they die. The book is compiled of many stories submitted by fans and such. The most memorable story I have, A corporal in the U.S Navy, leads a team of individuals known as the Expendables. The corporal knows the deaths of all those that were installed into the Expendables, and this corporal tries to not let his men die of the cause the machine said. Overall, I give the book a 4-star rating. People who like mysteries and such will like this book.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar children is a novel by Ransom Riggs, which uses real old pictures as a tool of story telling. It is an easy to read fantasy novel, whose main protagonist, Jacob, is a 16 year old social outsider, who idolizes his Grandfather. His Grandfather was a polish refugee, grew up in a children's home and faught in world war 2. He told Jacob, who spent his whole life in Florida great stories of war, his travels but most importantly the children's home. In his stories he described the children as having supernatural powers and presented the home as a place of great happiness. Jacob, growing up, gladly accepted these stories, especially since his grandfather seemed to believe in them himself and always showed pictures displaying the children using their powers. As he gets older he stops believing his grandfather because his father says he has dementia and his own life ends up being very unspectacular. All of this changes when Jacob finds his grandfather dead in the woods and gets a glimpse at a disturbing monster. His family sends him to counseling but his counsellor, after many weeks encourages him to follow his grandfather's last wish of him going to the welsh island on which the children's home is. He gets to go to the island, leading him to find out that his grandfather told the truth and he expiriences his own adventure very dangerous adventure in the style of his grandpa's stories.
I give the book a 4.5/5 for being an excellent easy to read fictional story which instills a sense of wonder and adventure, and telling especially young readers that we can all experience adventures like our grandparents did.
People who like examining the sience behind inspiration and storytelling will love this book. It is especially great for younger readers, although it contains some violence and a very young might be freightened. Nonetheless, the book will be very entertaining for those who wanted to match their grandparents stories or who find an old violent fairytale enjoyable to read.
