         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Colonialism and slavery exploiting Black people for labor, keeping them disenfranchised in society<br>-Disadvantaged and communities of color are often targeted as sites for hazardous landfills, plants that produce pollutants, and more that expose these communities to health challenges. This stems from a lack of representation of these communities in positions of power.<br>-Remnants from the Jim Crow laws that reinforced segregation and prohibited Black people from moving into white neighborhoods gave rise to policies that federally backed mortgages and other financial help to Black Americans, barring them from being able to live in wealthier neighborhoods with healthier living conditions once the Jim Crow laws were blocked.<br><br></div>]]></description>
