Being forced to decide something when you feel that you don't have enough information can hinder your ability to make healthy decisions. The book gave a helpful tip, "If necessary, prioritize your information-gathering by identifying which information will be most important to you". This is smart because time plays a big role in decisions in which you don't have enough information. Time can be the reason you don't have information, and by identifying the most important aspects of the decision, you can use your limited time to research the best course of actions in those areas.

Including too many people's opinions in decision making can make finding the best decision difficult. Opinions may conflict, making it hard, or impossible to please everybody. Sometimes a decision isn't worth the time it takes to investigate complicated solutions, so the book advises to sometimes let one person make the call, "...it may be essential for one person to take responsibility for making a decision".

Sometimes people don't care about the decision they have to make, even if it is an important one. The book says when making these kind of decisions, "identifying some very real pros and cons of particular actions", can help.

I recently injured my foot to the point where I had difficulty walking. I had to make the decision on whether to go to the doctor and see what they recommended, or go and buy a basic brace myself, in hopes that my foot would heal on its own. I made a mental pros and cons list to determine whether I thought my foot would heal without a doctor's assistance. In the end, I decided to go with the basic brace.
