A food web (or food cycle) is the natural interconnection of food chains and a graphical representation  of what-eats-what in an ecological community. Another name for food web is consumer-resource system
Animals depend on each other for food 
if population of a certain animal goes extinct it will damage the ecosystem 
for example if lions go extinct  Africa will be at great risk because they control the population of great herbivores .
