According to the text, first impressions become long lasting because when you first meet a person you have already begun to judge their appearance in the way the dress and act (Nevid, 2012, page 488). Being too personal on the first impression can lead to other people thinking poorly of you because they have already come out with too much personal information. First impressions are a kind of social schema or a mental representation we form about people in our social environment. If we meet someone for the first time and they give off a great impression and then the second time you see that person they act differently in a behavior that may be annoying, you will often make up excuses or explanations that will disregard their behavior, saying "he's not feeling well". If we have a bad first impression of someone, you are more likely to ignore that person and think negatively about them.

Identify factors that influence attraction and *why* you think these factors create the influence they do.

According to the video, the reason why people become attracted to others is not because they are appear differently than others, it is actually because they appear average to others and this is known as the Golden ratio (National Geographic, 2015). I think that people are attracted to others that look similar to them in physical appearance because if someone has a different shaped head or their eyes are too close together, that person is not very likely to try and communicate with that person.
According to the book, similarity, physical attractiveness, proximity, and reciprocity are all key factors of attractiveness (Nevid, 2012, page 496).
To be attracted to someone, I want some one who shares similar interests and has the same physical appearance. However, there are some instances where some people do not have the same views and interests on certain topics but they still have some common ground which allows them to keep interested in the other person.
