At the first Olympic Games the only 1 event and 1 day of competition was a short sprint from one end of the stadium to another. Gradually, more events were added to make 4 days of competition. They included wrestling, boxing, long jump, throwing the javelin & discus, chariot racing, running pankration, & the race for hoplites.

The games began, but most of the athletes didn't compete.On the morning of day 1 the athletes worship Zeus and later, they relaxed with family and friends, before the competition started on day 2.

It's the second day of the Games and the events have started.The first event is the horse and chariot-racing and later, over in the stadium, the pentathlon. That evening the crowd honored the first Olympic hero, Pelops, and then it was time for feasting.

Day 3

On day 3, Zeus was honored with sacrifices and a procession.After, over in the stadium, was the running races, including the all-important sprint race.There was also a big banquet to celebrate the victories so far.

Day 4

Contact sports start today with wrestling, boxing and the pankration on offer. Over in the stadium, the race in armour will be start this afternoon.

The last day was used to acknowledge the winners. First up, the procession and then, the moment the victors had waited for, the presentation of olive leaf crowns. They ended the day with feasting, singing and parties.
