- Initiated by William Cooper, who travelled all around the country collecting signatures. 
- Federal Cabinet never sent petition to the king. 
- NSW state government now issued discussion paper on the issue of Aboriginal parliamentary representation. 
- National Inquiry into separation of Indigenous children from their families traced back to the demands made in 1938, when delegates condemned the stealing Indigenous children and demanded the abolition of the Aborigines Protection Board.

·      The protest brought together 100 Aboriginal men and women from NSW, VIC and QLD.
 
·      The civil rights leader travelled NSW in a car, bicycle and on foot to inform the Aboriginal residents to gather in Sydney for a ‘’Day of Mourning and Protest.’’
 
·      There was a hand-bill advertising the conference stating that Aborigines only were welcome to attend, they were published by W.J. Miles and P.R. who were involved in a nationalist organization.
