Reading Response: In the book, “ Big Game” I think that the president gets his motivation from Oskari ( main character ). I believe the president gets his motivation from Oksari because without Oksari, the president would be dead by now. The text says, “... Without you Oskari, Hazar would’ve captured me and I would’ve been killed by now.” The president gets his mtoivation from Oskari by Oskari telling the president to continue on and to not give up. Oskari has saved the president twice which means that Oskari will not give up and will save the president from being captured and killed by Hazar and his men. When the presidents plane crash landed ater being shot down by Hazar and his men, Oskari immedietly went over to help the president out before Hazar could get to the president.

In the book “The Raft” Robie is motivated by what is best for her. She's not necessarily selfish, but when it comes down to what is best for her, she will do anything to make sure it is just that. For example in the book after the plane had crashed and Robie and Max were on the raft, Robie had realized that there was too much weight on the raft and it was slowly filling up with water. She noticed that Max was asleep and had been asleep for many days so she put a lifejacket on him and threw him overboard. She also ate his last bag of skittle because she was starving. She realized that she couldn't live alone so she made up a fake Max in her head. As the book states “I made you up because I couldn't stand to think about what I've done to save myself… I brought you back so I wouldn't have to be alone…” which shows that everything she did, she did for her own benefit.

: In what I read of Percy Jackson, I figured out a few things. In one part of the chapter I read one of the main characters, Bianca, is taken away from the group, so they need to find her. One of the other main characters is really upset and sad Bianca is gone, so Percy Jackson tries to comfort her, Zoe, the character who is extremely sad about Bianca is comforted by Percy, even though Zoe dislikes Percy. Percy said “Look, there is nothing you could have done, don’t worry about it”. I think this shows that Percy tries to be kind to everyone even if they aren’t fond of him.

I think that Lucas’s letters motivate Oakley, the narrator. I also think Carson motivates her. In the book Oakley says to Carson, “The only reason I have gotten this far is because of you. You’ve helped me heal”. Right now I just think that she is going through a lot and just thinks that having a break is for the best. I think that Lucas’s letters are making her feel a lot better and are helping her get through things. My paragraph shows what I think motivates Oakley.

Date:11/29 | Book: Mary Will I Die?
Give 5 significant words from what you’ve just read: Mary, Calvin, Volleyball, New kid, Paranoid
Reading Response: In the book “Mary will I die,” a character named Calvin is motivated by things he sees in his head. I thought that Calvin seeing things and drawing them for them to come true in the future is cool because he can be a hero. In my book, Calvin said that whatever he draws that comes to his head eventually becomes real, and he said that it started five years ago when they said “Bloody Mary,” 14 times. The person that Calvin motivates is Steph. Steph is motivated by him because Steph likes scary things and Calvin always has scary thoughts and draws them, and Steph will take them for herself.

In the book “I Survived The Galveston Hurricane” Mr. Early and Gordon motivate the main character Charlie. Mr. Early motivates him by being the bigger person and wanting to protect their city. An example is on page 56 Mr. Early says, “What are you laughing at?” the other kids said “Don’t worry sir, Hurricanes don’t hit Galveston.” Mr. Early said, “That is dead wrong, a hurricane has hit here before and took all of the houses out!” I think that motivates Charlie to be the better person and help people out like Mr. Early does. I also think Gordon motivates Charlie. I think that because Gordon bullies Charlie and that makes Charlie feel bad, so then it causes him to do dumb stuff and play tricks on people. On page 53, Charlie was trying to play a trick on Gordon. I think he was doing that to distract him so Charlie could get away. But Charlie's trick didn’t work. Mr. Early motivates Charlie in a good way and Gordon motivates Charlie in a bad way. In conclusion Charlie gets motivated by many people and it all depends on who they are.

Scythe Anesthesia was motivated to find out why she was in the recovery room. She was hazy from hypothermia and it was smart of her. She had the choice to die of oxygen deprivation and hypothermia and she chose hypothermia. I think what motivated her to choose that option was because she was with Rowan on Endura in the vault. It could have possibly been because she didn’t want to feel how hard it was going to gasp for air. Scythe Anesthesia was talking to Scythe Possuelo about what happened and it said “There were more memories glooming like storm clouds on her mental horizon.” So she's regaining the memories but they’re still cloudy and she can’t remember exact details. I hope she remembers because if she doesn’t this could put Rowan, Micheal, Murnia, and herself in bad positions.
