I'm a science teacher and an eTwinning ambassador at Turkey.I am responsible for the etwinning activities of my city.I am trying to help to solve the problems which the eTwinners in my city encounter.I am organising etwinning seminars in my city.

Why use tablets in the classroom?

1. Broaden the students’ horizons by giving them access to information and knowledge that they would not receive otherwise.

2. Use the technology to have students be more active and engaged in their learning process so that it will be more meaningful for them.

3. Independent and self-paced learning may contribute to creativity and productivity. 

4. Apps that appeal to different types of learners whether they prefer audio, video or more traditional writing and reading. Something for everyone. 

Challenges:

For me, the most significant challenge is student access. Many of the students don't have the financial means to purchase their own iPads and although the college has a number of tablets available for student use, the policy for checking them out of the library is problematic. Moreover, they cannot take them home so working with them outside the college is not possible.

• The students should bring their own tablets 
• 2 or three students should share one tablet
• the time needed for a task
• the pain the students are used to showing, when they use technology to study
• the activities must be very well organised, the learning objectives presented, the tasks properly explained
• students familiar with working in groups, collaborating and helping each other
• internet connection at school.
