ivy//frank ocean - frank ocean's ivy is very calming , as it only contains one solo voice in the song. it talks about the intensity of the relationship frank had with his former lover, and talking about how things are different now compared to then, when they spent time with each other. "i thought that i was dreaming when you said you loved me" is a very memorable, very poetic lyric to me, which had captured my heart and ended up being one of my favorite songs to listen to at night.

Dear Theodosia by Leslie Odom Jr. and Lin-Manuel Miranda from The Cast of the Alexander Hamilton Musical tells a story about Leslie Odom Jr. and Lin-Manuel Miranda's characters having children soon after the Revolutionary War takes place.

Wait a Minute! by Willow is catchy, upbeat and to me, relatable. I don't usually like love songs, or admitting I have feelings in general but Wait a Minute is an exception. In Wait a Minute, Willow manages to tell the story of a girl who is really into someone in a fun and flirty way without sounding too cheesy. The lyrics start off with "Wait a Minute! I think I left my conscience on your front door step," which I think is a very cute way to admit that you like someone. The uplifting beat also amplifies this. However, she is also not way in over her head with it, as seen in the lines "Some things don't work, some things are bound to be” — she knows that in life, some relationships either stay together or fall apart at any given moment and that’s just the way life is. Yet throughout it all, she is not afraid to admit that she is in love — "Feel my heart's intention … I left my consciousness in the 6th dimension" — which I think is very gutsy of her. In that sense, it really speaks to me. Another adorable thing to take note of is that she makes a reference to the film Avatar — in one particular line she says "Oel ngati kameie” which means "I see you" in Na'vi.

Firstly I’ll talk about meditation, I love zen garden music. It is super soothing and relaxing. The music calms me down when my head is on fire. Although there is no lyrics, but the music itself is strong enough to change my mood.

Secondly, blue songs. I usually listen to Chinese musics. One of my favourite is ‘ xiang ni de ye’ , it has accompanied me for a long and hard time. The lyrics are like stories about me. It cheered me a lot.

Lastly, kpop. Many people listen to kpop nowadays as it is now the hit! Although I don’t understand the lyrics. But the catchy rhythm really caught my hearings. It makes me hyper, preventing me from being blue or down.

- I first heard this song on radio and I’ve been in love with it since then. It’s not only about the melody but the way he portrays himself as a “photograph”. It somehow gives me a nostalgic feeling and makes me think about the memories I had with my late grandpa. This is already the tenth years since he’s passed away but I’ve never forgotten about him. He used to be by my side everyday and he’d always sing or tell bedtime stories to me. 

 

Every times I think about him, I would listen to this song and recall the fun time I used to have with my grandpa. Lyrics from the chorus part, especially “you won’t every be alone, wait for me to come home” makes me feel like he never left me and is still by my side when I closed my eyes while listening to it. Besides, it makes me think about my childhood. 

 

The lines “where our eyes are never closing, Our hearts were never broken, And time’s forever frozen” reminds me the time when I was still young and innocent. I was so pure and simple-minded that time which makes me feel much more happier than the current me. I feel like going back to the old time whenever I listen to this song.

- I was originally attracted by the catchy lyrics, but when I found out the true meaning behind it, I became more and more addicted to this song. It basically talks about the changing phase in our life, from a youngster into an adult. We all have to experience this by ourselves and get through this in order to become stronger in our life.

- If I analyze the song solely based on the lyrics, it sounds just like any other typical love song. However, the true story behind this song is more than what it seems on the surface. JJ Lin composed this song based on his personal experience with a girl who confessed to him many years ago and involved in a plane crush. It reminds me to appreciate everyone around me included my friends and family.

This song is one of my favourite song of all time. Eventhough the song is new as it was released a few months ago but the meaning of this song is very relatable to me.The meaning are also very deep.Its about him trying to make the city proud and he did it.Its also about a love hate relationship between a son and  a mother which made me realise to appreciate my mom even more.The blues melody and the gospel choir goes very well together.Somehow this rappers words and lyrics is very well constructed.My favourite line from this song is

2.T-shirt - Migos

Being honest, at first this song did not catch my ears at all as its melody is very repetitive and for the public ears very boring but after listening to it for a few times i understand the art of it.The rapper raps his verse perfectly before the beat drops which makes it very catchy.It also has a bounce vibe to it.Basically this song is about a group of rappers flexing their assets because of how far they have made it.I really like the background of these rappers as they are unique and compliment one rap to another.The best part of it is that they are related to each other.This song really make me wants to dance as the bouncy vibe just take controls of my body.Each rapper gives a different melody which i find it so unique.Lucky enough that this song has a music video which i really think has a really nice visuals that they had used.

Believe me or not this is actually a love song.This song is about a guy who broked up with his girlfriend and realised that he is better off without the girl.The arrangement of this song and melody was perfect for me.The lyrics was superb.As it clearly describe what he feels about that girl.The hook is very catchy and i generally think  a lot of people would like it even though RnB is not their genre.My favourite line in this song was

Although this song is in Korean and I don’t really understand them very well, Forever Young has given a really huge impact to me. I can relate to this song as the story or meaning behind this song is that how one has gave their best and still wondering if he did any mistake or how he can improvise himself. The song also describes about how one should life their dream and never give up even when you fall as life is not always prefect. “I get scared from the emptiness between complicated feelings and the intersectionalities of life, I pretend like I’m numb”. This part of the song is practically what that had made me very attached to this song.

I’m literally a fans of EXO. I loved all their songs, but the songs that influence me a lot is Promise which is released in the year 2014. As u can see the name of the song is called “Promise”, whenever EXO sing this song in their concert, the members will feel sad and so the fans. The lyrics of this song meant a lot to the member and their fans. The sentence that touched me the most is “Thinking about myself on the stage, despite my clumsiness, you still like me no matter what, but do I deserved to be loved by you?” They always show their best to their fans no matter what had happen to them. If you are the one whom really into music, you should try composing own music to not let the music industry left behind. We can also organize competition to emerge talent from the songwriters, composers and etc.

 

 

When I am feeling down, moody songs are often my first choice music. I don’t to get interrupted by people when Im down. My favourite moody song is ‘ Hurt’ by Christina Aguilera. I listened to this song since I was young started in 2005. The lyrics was created by genius in my opinion. It really describes how I feel.

Secondly, I love to listen to remix. Especially when Im with my friends, drinking and partying. It really makes the atmosphere better. Everyone can get high. Although there is no lyrics, but the strong bass really turns me into good mood.

Lastly, the music that were born in the 50’s. Although for some people nowadays, they think that this types of music is very boring. But for me, I love listening to their rhythm, style of music and the lyrics. It really expresses the true of them in that era. 

 

1)    Awake –Josh Groban

I first discovered this song back when I was in the final year of my high school. During that time, I was getting very worried about what might happen after I graduate from high school specifically, I didn’t want to lose my friends that I was closest to. Which is why this song is meaningful to me because, this song “Awake” by Josh Groban, is about moments that you just don’t want to end, moments that you wish could last a lifetime but at the same time, it’s about realizing that even though you never want these moments to end, it will end eventually and the best way to be in the moment is to appreciate it right there and then. This song is bitter and sweet and it really hits home even to this day as I still listen to it especially the part of the lyrics that say “we can’t stay like this forever, but I can have you next to me today” and “If I could make these moments endless, If I could stop, the winds of change”.

2)    All that Matters –Christina Perri (From Finding Neverland the musical)

I remember that my friend introduced me to this song a few years back because he found it very meaningful to him in his current stage of life. I listened to and to my surprise it relates to me very well as well. The song in context to the musical is about the troubles one faces in the process of growing up and the nostalgia you get from your childhood or in other words “the good old days”. There’s a line from the song that I feel really cuts deep into me in my current stage of life “Remember all you’ve forgotten, the joy in the simplest of things. Refuse to take life for granted but choose, to celebrate all that life brings.” The way I interpret it, this song is telling me that we shouldn’t take things for granted but instead, make the most out of everything we have around us just like we used to do when we were children. For a person that finds it really tough to accept the ideals, practices and attitudes of adults, this really comforts me knowing I’m not the only one who thinks the same.

3)    Believe –Josh Groban (From “The Polar express”)

This song is another one that reminds me of my childhood. I’ve watched the movie as a child and when I decided to come back to it and listen to the music, it instantaneously brought back a tsunami of memories that reminded when of times when things were simpler. The song touches about the dreams and ambitions we all once had as children, all those dreams that are so amazing to think about but are always called “fairy tales” and “unrealistic” by adults which is the sad truth I guess. In a world as pessimistic and superficial as this one, this song always manages to give me hope whenever I’m pondering about the countless issues humanity is facing at the moment. It gives me hope because as we grew up, we slowly lost touch with the more imaginative and appreciative parts of us, we stop believing that the world and everything in it can be better if we just take the first step: Believing. This is why this song means so much to me as I truly feel the world could be such a good place to live in even with all the problems. If only we just believed

            I can’t really answer this question well from my perspective as I still buy CD’s and occasionally download albums. I do this because I believe that they deserve the money for going through all the work to make something as wonderful as music for people and that if people really loved the artists and his/her music, I’m sure they would be willing to pay for it.

 

            I believe the best way to support the music industry is to purchase music instead of streaming it but, as the demand for streaming music is on the rise, here’s the next best thing. Musicians, record labels etc. should prioritize other sources of income (eg: concerts, merchandise etc.) but in then I still believe that paying for music is the best way to support an artist.

多远都要在一起 (long diatance)-this song was sing by my favourite idol GEM Tang , a Chinese singer from Hong Kong , she wrote the lyrics and composed the melody by her ownself. When I first listen on this song was at Bangkok. “愛能克服遠距離多遠都要在一起你已經不再存在我世界裡請不要離開我的回憶” which means “(Love to overcome the distance how far together you are no longer exist in my world please do not leave my memories)” This lyrics of sentences has really bring me some different perspective of angles on it . But the most interesting part which makes me feel surprise was the last scene /part of the MV . When the girl has died and distance between she and her lover was the moon and the earth but the love still remaining and forever. After my first time listen and watch the song, I cried , thousand of feeling emerge from my heart. 

有梦不难（Adolescent）-  This song has really motivated all the time whenever I feel depression and giving up upon my dream . This song was sing by JJ Lin 林俊杰. The MV and the lyrics is really motivating people to persisting and not to giving up your dream and believe on yourself and might success until the end of the day . I am really in love with the way of the MV scene of this song , because it is more towards reality and how ordinary people persisting on their dream and work on it . I remembered I played this song almost every day when I am working for a part time job last year  while I am waiting my bus every morning , and I think this was my only motivation to kick start my day on the morning .

ALWAYS -  I don’t really listen to Korean song , but I love this song so much , I think the biggest reason was the dram which called Descendents of the sun . The love story of the leading actress and actor was really wonderful and touching . Whenever this song plays , my heart get so touching and brings me back to those story of the drama. And I love to play this song every night before I slept .

Through selling the albums of the idols. The company can earn back the profit. In this era there are lesser people that buy cds, but the industry now added posters of the idol in the album as a package, this is one of the strategy to promote their albums and for the fans of the particular idol to purchase them.

All three of these songs are extremely soulful. As a musician i tend to crave to listren to songs that brings out my deepest emotions, because then only can we strongly relate to the song and sing them or perform them with ease.

where is the love by blackeye peas is my stress reliever song. the song contains alot of meaning and substance. it questions as to how we look at things in our world. The song also has a very calm tone to it, and each word contains alot of meaning.

The lyrics, "The Bloods, the Crips and the KKK" are a reference to two Los Angeles-based gangs and the Ku Klux Klan hate group.

This song refers to the fight against racism that took place in our country. it talks about how kids are getting involved in gangs and caught up in a whole lot of crap that should be avoided. people are being killed form these decisions people are being hurt nothing good is coming from the surplus of hate

Nothing like us by justin bieber is simply my sorry song if you go around it, its a very basic song the meaning of the song is extremely straightforward, there isnt much to explain. Except for the fact that i can listen to this song when im at my lowest point no matter what reason it is to be that put me there to begin with. even though the song talks about a basic relationship break up, i tend to look at it in many personal ways involving even family sometimes. 

As for the truthful meaning of the song would have to be able justin biebers breakup with Selena Gomez.

The song Warrior by Demi Lavato is a comforting song for me, it reminds me that i am " A survior "

and that i am surviving and will always be a ''WARRIOR'.

i believe the song can hold many different means for many different people, it could be about a controlling relationship that is now gone and he/she is now telling the world that he/she is okay and will always thrive for the better days in life again. Many reasons and many ideas may pop into ones mind.    

The song lyrics read: "There's a part of me I can't get back/ A little girl grew up too fast/ All it took was once, I'll never be the same/ Now I'm taking back my life today." 

Lavato touched on the meaning of her song 'Warrior,' but didn't go into too much detail about what exactly her song was about. Ultimately allowing her listeners to relate to the song in many powerful ways, i honestly don't know where i would be without this song in my life right now and forever more.

When this song first released, I thought it was a song to thank their fans for supporting them. But the lyrics of the song also can be interpreted as a song to thank their parents for supporting them. They thank everyone for not giving up on them although they may not be the perfect kids or idols for their parents or fans.

This song talks about nowadays people will act in front of others even their loved ones. It is sad to see when people actually acts in front of their loved ones. This is one of my favourite songs as I don’t really show my real feeling in front of people as I am afraid being judged by others.

This song is written by JJ Lim to everyone he wanted to appreciate. JJ Lim is one of my favourite singer since I was young. He chose to write a song for those who had helped him in his life to appreciate them.
