When disaster strikes, the CRS is there to be at the people's aid. They provide lifesaving help through first responders to help people to return to their normal ways of life, even after such inflictions. Then, the CRS helps people obtain the tools and skills they need to recover and live once again on their own. The CRS's projects build on local systems to ensure long-term success.

During the season of Lent, rice bowls are distributed to about 45 countries across the world so that they can fulfill their almsgiving part of Lent. They distribute scholarships, provide tutoring after school, and train the teachers. They promote safe learning and make sure that girls continue to get the education they need through their efforts.

They provide audio books that promote optimal nutrition practices for youth among low-literacy populations. They have community scoreboard which help parents measure out appropriate quantities of food for their children at each meal. This ensures that a well-balanced meal can be served and be continued to served without the help of the CRS.

As mentioned in the video, CRS programs work through the lens of integral human development-overview of human development which is a framework the CRS uses. CRS wants children to reach their full potential and then become productive members within their societies, fulfilling their responsibilities to contribute to the common good.
