Bob Marley-Buffalo Soldier & Bjork-Human Behavior

Bob Marley’s Buffalo Soldier & Bjork’s Human Behavior share similar qualities as well as differ from each other in a few ways.

In Buffalo Soldier, Bob sings about the history of Africans being taken from their homeland to fight a war for the Americans in America. This song exposes the aftermath of injustice due to racial and political issues. Bob’s songs are known for their powerful, positive, & at times educational messages and Buffalo Soldier is no different. Personally I enjoy the song because of its informative message & that it isn’t over saturated with its educational aspects.

In Human Behavior, Bjork sings about the strangeness of human and the things we as humans do. The song is followed by a music video that has a rather odd mood. It takes place in a cabin in the woods with scenes of bugs and animals. In one scene it shows a man with a rifle which I believe is a hunter and in the next few scenes the man is on the ground unconscious. What I receive from that is that the same way we treat earth and nature can be the same way nature treats us.

These two songs I consider to be on opposite sides of a music spectrum as far as style and the background of the artist, however both songs expose human behavior with Buffalo Soldier having a more political approach while Human Behavior has a social angle. Another similarity that both songs share is that both music video show violence. Some minor similarities I notice about the two were that both videos include animals and both take place outside.
