         <description><![CDATA[<div>- 28 African nations boycotted the Montreal Games in 1976. These African nations boycotted the Olympic Games in response of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) refusing to ban New Zealand from playing South Africa for the Springbok tour earlier that year. African nations were outraged by this response and decided to boycott. Kenya's foreign minister James Osogo said that, "The government and the people of Kenya hold the view that principles are&nbsp; more precious than medals" (Source I). He said that the decision the IOC made to not ban NZ in the games would give, "comfort and respectability to the South African racist regime and encourage it to continue to defy world opinion" (Source I).<br>- The 1976 Olympics started with the with drawl of 25 African countries.          <description><![CDATA[<div>- New Zealand joining the Montreal &nbsp; Olympic Summer Games in 1976 "sparked a boycott" (Source A).<br>&nbsp;- Many African Countries and Individuals in certain teams found it illogical and unethical to allow New Zealand to compete in the Olympic games.&nbsp;<br>- Kenya's Foreign minister James Osogo stated "Hold the principles are more precious of medals" (Source I)&nbsp;<br>- Individuals in the New Zealand team also 'abandoned' (source C) there competitions. Rod Dixon choose not to attend because "he had a hard run in the Morning" (Source C)<br>- 28 countries choose to boycott the games 'led by Tanzania dictator Julius Nyerere' (Source F).&nbsp; Some of the countries where Kenya, Iraq, Sudan, Uganda etc. (Source E)<br>- Due to the media attention on the African ruled aprtied-era going on in 1976 and the recent Soweto riots (Source D) many countries boycotted "Firmly putting sports and politics back onto the same page" (Source D)&nbsp;<br>- Also boycotting the games was a "costly tactical misjudgement" (Source G) it generated international interest on the Apartheid ruled South Africa<br>- </div>]]></description>
