This quote was said by Thibault, who's superpower is that he's easily forgotten. Even the other Zeroes can't remember him most of the time. He practices Zen, a school of Buddhism that emphasizes the value of meditation and intuition. This is his method of coping with his power. He believed that he didn't matter. He saw himself as a burden on other people because they felt pained and guilty once they realize they have forgotten him. It didn't matter how hard he tried, they would keep living their lives as if he never existed. He was tired of fighting his destiny and gave up. He kept himself isolated in order not to hurt anyone until Riley, another Zero approaches him. She accepts Thibault and found out a way to remember him. He now has someone who loves and can rely on. Riley validated him. He didn't allow himself to believe he mattered but down always wanted to.

The book review I chose came from goodreads.com and it was written to give other buyers insight on what to expect. I agree with Chantal, who called this book one of her favorite superhero novels, I can say the same. Both She and I were pleasantly surprised and have never read one of Scott Westerfeld's works before. Chantal was first drawn in by the tagline "Every power has a price," and was glad that the story delivered on its promise. She also liked that it wasn't reminiscent of a cliche, the Zeroes are nothing like superheroes. And this is proven in the book, their powers are more subtle and are shown to be very hard to deal with. She loved that the story had a heavy emphasis on friendship and those were my favorite parts of the book. She felt that the novel was fast-paced, well-written, and humorous. I read through the book quickly and admired the character's wit. The things she didn't like did not adulterate her enjoyment of the book. The romance seemed to happen too quickly and the plot felt a little over the top. I agree but those things also didn't bother me when reading the book and I didn't have a problem suspending my disbelief. The Zeroes had their lives in danger many times but it just made me want to root for them even more. Chantal cared about all six main characters but wished they were more developed but understood that it was tough to write from six different perspectives in one book. I also was thinking this so I quickly got my hands on the next book in the trilogy because I couldn't stay away from these unforgettable characters.

Ethan sets the story for the whole book. It was because he was selfish and careless that he got everyone in trouble. He used his power all the time because it was the easy thing to do. He has a omniscient voice inside of him that can get him what he wants, but he has to be careful what he wishes for or it will backfire. Ethan doesn't know how the voice will answer but it always knows what to say so it can make him feel scared or inferior. Whenever he uses the voice his posture changes and words just flow out of him, normally he isn't as charismatic, he's insecure and jittery. One of his insecurities is that he's not like the other Zeroes, his power works best one-on-one and most of the time he has no idea what he's doing. Throughout the book he learns to take responsibility for what he says and think before he speaks.

When looking for an actor I went on the search for superhero movies, because I don't know many teen actors. I stumbled upon this movie about superheroes in high school and I recognized it from when I was younger. I would cast Michael Angarano as Ethan, he's the main character in Sky High. I chose him because his character has similar traits of Ethan. He is an awkward insecure at first, makes his friends angry, then redeems himself. Zeroes is a more serious story and Michael would have to get a haircut but now that its been 11 years since the release of this silly Disney movie he can play a hero that has a bit more struggles. He would make a great Ethan if he magically pass for 16.
