         <title>Food hygiene regulation</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div>Is intended to make sure that food is stored, prepared, handled, distributed and sold in a hygienic manner. It protects public health in relation to food. They must ensure that the food they supply or sell is done in a hygienic way. In restaurants for example the owners should identify food safety hazards. They must also identify and be aware of steps in their activities which are critical for food hygiene and food safety.  <br><br>Food and hygiene guidelines;<br>* wear clean clothes<br>* wear appropriate clothing such as aprons, hair nets, gloves, shoes.<br>* wash hand before and after handling food. and every time you touch anything, going toilet, blowing a child's nose, changing a child's nappy or taking them toilet.<br>* Do not cough or sneeze near food or food preparation area.<br>* Cover cuts and sores with water proof plasters.<br>* Do not wear nail polish or have long inappropriate nails.<br>* Use correct colour co-ordinated chopping boards for food preparation.<br>* If you are unwell, diarrhoea  <br>* Make sure all foods are correctly dated and labelled.<br>* Keep food stored separately for children that have allergies or dietary needs, so no cross contamination.<br>* To keep meets separate from other items, so no contamination<br>examples;<br>*Store meat and poultry in clean sealed containers on the bottom shelf of the fridge so they can not drip onto other food.<br>* Follow storage instructions, don't eat meat after its used by date.<br>* Keep cooked meats separate from raw meat.<br>* Make sure fridge is cold enough or food poisoning bacteria will still be able to grow, fridge should be between 0oc and 5oc.  <br><br>Know which steps in your activities are critical for food safety and preparation. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Health and safety act 1974 </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The health and safety act also known as HASAWA is a wide ranging legislation in which employers must protect the health and safety and welfare of every employee within the workplace as well as others on the premises temps, casual workers, visitors and the general public within the setting. HASAWA allows the government to issue regulations guidance and approved codes of practice for employees. These set out detailed responsibilities in every aspect of the workplace health and safety. <br><br>Health and safety at work act 2015 <br>Takes all employees in to account from office space to and field staff by protecting workers and other people against harm to their health and safety and welfare by eliminating or minimising risks arising from work. All staff must receive adequate and sufficient health and safety training and be aware of risks and hazards in their workplace and how to follow procedures in the event of an accident or incident. <br>Examples;<br>Within a nursery protective clothing must be worn for changing nappies and different types of protective clothing must be worn for food preparation. <br>Fire safety and evacuation procedures must be adhered to and practised regularly. If spillages occur then signs should be available to warn others and all cleaning chemicals must be used safely and stored in a secure space away from access of children and public.  <br>The role of the HASO health and safety officer is a designated person within the workplace who maintains the policy's and procedures of the health and safety legislation and to ensure the policies are regulated and followed to prevent risks incidents or harm to others.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Control of substances hazardous to health: this provides information on the control of substances to hazardous to health  regulations 2002. it gives guidance on how to prevent the use of substances or reduce the workers exposure to them for example planning for emergencies and finding out what the health hazards are and deciding how to prevent harm to health.<br><br>COSHH covers substances that are hazardous to health but does not cover lead, asbestos or radioactive substances.<br><br>Employees with COSHH<br>If you have employees every part off COSH applies.<br><br>when you start your COSHH assessment you need to think about what do you do that involves substances and how they can cause harm and how to reduce the risk of harm occurring. <br><br>safety data sheets provide information on chemical products that help people of these chemicals o make risk assments. by law suppliers of chemicals must provide an up to date data sheet if its dangerous for supply. it gives information on handling storage and what to do if an emergency occurs website: hse.gov.uk/cosh/basics/ppe.htm <br>app.croneri.co.uk/topics/coshh/early years<br><br>Body fluids are to be treated as substances hazards to health and should be carefully dealt with using the correct PPE. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Manual handling</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Manual handling was designed to minimise the risk of injuries in a work place.<br>POSITION<br>correct positioning can prevent having any injury. For example stand in front of the load with the feet apart and your leg leading forward.<br>What to do when carrying children:<br>*if the child is old enough ,ask them to move to a position that is easy to pick up<br>*do not place the child on your hip, try to balance the weight equally.<br>*avoid carrying anything else when carrying a child.<br>*students and pregnant staff can not carrying children.<br>*do not carry the child for a long distance.<br>*if you carry a child and the child is struggling, stop and put back down and use reassuring words to calm before continuing.<br>*the environment should be clean ,by making sure the floor is not slippery, the light should be adequate and the temperature and humidity should be suitable.<br>*never attempt manual handling unless you have been trained<br>*plan ahead and use teamwork.<br>LIFTING<br>*Bend the knees slowly and keep the back straight<br>*tuck the chin in on the way down<br>*lean slightly forward and get a good grip.<br>*keep the should level without twisting or turning from the hips.<br>*grip around the base of the load<br>*bring the load to waist height.<br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
