How would you describe Cornerstone's culture? by Ure

Corporate culture is defined as the values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of the people in the organization. It's how we approach work, and how we treat the people in our department, people in other departments, our subcontractors, consultants, partners, lenders, and government reps. It's the honest answer to the question, "So what's it really like to work at Cornerstone?" Your comments are anonymous.

For me, my responses are a cliche but hold true to this day: value, pride and teamwork. For so long we were so small. We looked out for each other, helped each other without asking and had great pride in our work no matter how small the task. I feel we are expanding too fast and letting the new employees swim or sink with no lifeguard. Some how we need to get that family unity back. Just don't know how...

Here is a company where you feel involved and valued, belong the work you do or compensation you receive.

“Culture” is kind of a buzzword these days that can actually take on a life of its own within companies: some offering outrageous benefits! Sometimes the focus on culture can overshadow the actual purpose of the company. At Cornerstone, I don’t think our culture has been defined per se.

With that said, I believe Cornerstone’s un-spoken culture is the empowerment each of us is given to preform our part of the job. This comes directly from the trust ownership and management has in us and it feels good. I am blown away every day but the fact that every person here is entrusted with large and/or small tasks and no job is considered insignificant. We are all treated as the integral part of the team and that creates pride in what we do.

Moving into the future, it might make sense to actually spell out what our culture is. What, besides building incredible homes and communities is our purpose? Oh, and maybe we could add free massages and a company barista!

The culture at Cornerstone is one that values hard work and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Employees are given autonomy and flexibility to do their jobs and in turn they take pride in their work and the company as a whole. Cornerstone values teamwork and hires like-minded people who enjoy working together and helping each other for the common good of the company. Everyone works hard but a life /work balance is important and encouraged as well. I see the culture shifting a bit lately with the increased workload as some employees are more overwhelmed with their own work and have less time to help each other.

One of the things that I loved most about C3, when I first started with the company, was that everyone was truly a FAMILY! It gave the company that warm and fuzzy feeling that you don't see too often. It showed me how much everyone cared for one another and I wanted to be a part of it! I agree that as we grow, we need to keep the Cornerstone Family together, we need to keep helping eachother, and we need to support one another. We can either grow apart or grow together but the latter is how we got to where we are now!
