The condition may take as long as 6 months to resolve, mild conditions will resolve quicker.Treatment consists of a twice daily dose of calcium supplement (200-500mg). This is administered orally or via an injection. An injectable dose of vitamin D3 is also recommended.
To help further it is required to be exposed to unfiltered ultra-violet light and ensure the temperature is regulated regularly.
Ackerman.L D.V.M
The Biology, Husbandry and Health Care of Reptiles Volume III
T.F.H Publications:Hampshire

The process of shedding involves the forming of anew skin beneath the old one. Once this is complete enzymes and fluid is secreted between the two skin layers. This lifts the old layer and separates the two, this lasts for 5-7 days on average.
After another 5-7 days the skin is shed, in the case of the snake, in one piece from head to tail.
It is initiated in snakes by rubbing the face on a abrasive surface to loosen the first piece of the old skin layer. W hen the skin fails to peel or break off in any way, completely or in parts, this is called dysecdysis.

REF
Girling,S 2003
Veterinary nursing of Exotic Pets
First Edition, Carlton, Victoria 3053, Australia, Publisher: Blackwell
