-How does power affect a story? Critical Thinking: Analyze the quote: "History is written by the winners."
Power affects a story because it relies on, " how they are told, who tells them, when they are told, and how many are told. I think it means that The more confident, how bold you are, the what you do will leave an impact in some way.
-Why are stories so important? Why is it so important to reject the "single story"?
Stories are important because they can leave an impact on people. It is important to reject the "single story" because there isn't just one story there are multiple.

Poem - What I Will by Suheir Hammad

1. The word "will" has several different meanings. How is it used in the title of the poem and why?
Will in the title is used as the extent they would go or where they draw the line. It is used this way because when it comes to war they draw the line they do not want to be involved.
2.Vocabulary in Context. The word “drummed” in line 15 is used in a way that is related to, but different from, the
“drum” is referred to in the rest of the poem. What does " drummed " mean here, and how does it relate to the poem’s central message?
I believe "drummed in line 15 means spontaneous or unreasonable. It relates to the poem's central message because they think badly of war.
3. Overall, is this an optimistic or pessimistic poem? Explain your view by making specific references to
the language in the text.
This is a pessimistic poem. "I will not be played. I will not lend my name nor my rhythm to your beat." These lines show this poem is pessimistic because it feels as though they aren't trusting like they have been hurt before and won't give in this time.

Shakespeare Sonnet 42: That Thou Hast It Is Not All My Grief (Modern English)

That you have her isn’t the only thing that’s upsetting me, although I can tell you I loved her dearly. That she has you is the main reason that I’m crying – a loss of love that hurts me more. This is how I’ll make excuses for you two offenders in love: You love her because you know I love her. And in the same way, she abuses me for my own sake, putting up with my friend making love to her because she knows I love him. If I lose you my loss is my mistress’ gain. And in losing her my friend is gaining. You both gain each other and I lose both of you. And both lay this burden on me for my own sake. But here’s the happy part: my friend and I are one person. What flattery! So she loves only me!

This sonnet is about Losing a person you loved to a person you thought you could trust. Two of the people the person trusted the most betrayed them. It was done out of spite. They both are gaining something out of losing but the person is not. The person is in denial.
