The book is about two male penguins: Roy and Silo at New York's Central Park Zoo. They see other couples of penguins hatching their eggs so they try with a rock in their nest. The zookeeper gives them a real egg that needs care and they take turns sitting on it until it hatches, so Tango is born. Somebody told me that the book is based on a real story.

Activities that can be carried out before or after reading the story:

I think it is important in that point to include all the different kind of families that can be in the classroom and name a wide variety of families: two moms or two dads, stepparents, adoptive parents, foster parents, single parents or LGBTQ members. One of the objective will be to teach children to accept differences amongst families by sharing.


2. What do we know/learned about penguins? 

Children can label the different parts of the penguin: flipper, tail, chinstrap, webbed feet, bill...

Talking about animals and parts of the animals is a great topic too. So we can compare penguins with other birds, we can talk about the differences between them and mammals...
