one surprising thing was that someone gave them fake passports to get pass the asylum proving that they are legal.

A second thing i learned was that there are more than 130,000 syrian refugees in Egypt.

The last thing i learned was that syrian people are really poor.


Two things that surprised me was when Ahmed the smuggler didn't take their money and the last thing was that Egypt and Turkey are very different from each other.

I learned that the author Alan Gratz  took a lot of thought on writing these books and that he picked Syrian because according to the news there was a war going on and many innocent lives were being lost 

I was surprised when The author chose to write about Syrian because the war was going on when he had the idea of writing it so it was hard for him to get the information he needed because he didn’t know what was going to come up

I never knew that 727,085 people had to travel an average of 2,750 miles each to get to their European countries of their origins.

I wonder why would that amount of people travel that distance just to get to 1 place?
