It is the second Module in our "Pedagogy Course", The course’s name is, Pedagogical Method & Assignment Tools. It deals with the instruments and Pedagogical teaching methods used to provide a better learning outcome in the class, rather than the old teaching system.
It is June 4th, our first class with (Mr. Meeran), the co- lecturer of the module along with Dr.Karwan. He, Mr.Meeran, started the lecture introducing himself leading us (participants) doing the same. Then the discussion started regarding whether or not we have any idea about the topic and most of the 1st lecture's time spent on participants sharing their ideas regarding the topic suggested.
Generally speaking, the materials provided for the module were effective and helpful. Teachers were well armed with the knowledge regarding the module's content, however, there were some notes that I thought were worth mentioning since this is considered a feedback on the module as a whole. At the beginning, the lectures were not as clear to me as to have a general idea, yet with the time passed by and we got involved in practical activities, things became more clear.
Lectures were more focusing on the view points of participants in a way that sometimes, I felt bored and hopeless because of all the pointless subjects that were discussed. Each participant shred their own experiences with no consideration to the time being wasted in the class and the attention being kept away from the main subject.
taking into account the fact that the instructors desired to take the best out of each and anyone of us, that is a very good thing, while, to have that much of time spent over complains about specific issues irrelevant to the subject, is disturbing.
The second class dated June 6th, where the previous class was resumed in the same form as the first one. The teacher tries to involve the audience as much as possible in order to give the sense of belonging and participants to feel more active than bored. However, there were again some extra time spent over repeated complains and comments regarding the educational System in the area and the non stop attempts to improve it without seeing a noticeable result.
June 13th, the third class was about assessing the participant aiming at speculating their potential regarding the lecture. The class started with each regular group performing on stage. Each group had to chose one effective teaching method (in their point of view), and to make effort to satisfy the audience with their view. We (the teacher included) had to reflect on each group’s performance and turn it back to them sharing our opinions regarding their activity. this is a good step towards increasing awareness about things that might be unseen or felt and an eye opening process for both the ones who perform and the audience. The reflect I personally had, was as following: each group had their best to show others what they did yet, one point that should be highlighted is the time management which was not quietly managed. most of participants violated the time limit set for them, therefore the lecture ha extended and the other groups felt bored. another point to be raised is that, some participants were only speaking without comprehending, in other words, some participants has memorized their own parts and were not quite sure about it beside the low voice which made it hard for the audience to hear well. As there were also very good groups that had a very good team management and knowledge bout their subject.
The last lecture was with Dr.Karwan who again was a very smart and well informed about the content of the module. He gave us information regarding the department and college administrative map, then each scientific units commitments and duties according to the duties they have in the industry they work at. He also gave us clear regulations regarding the importance of being accurate in committed to any responsibility we take in the future either as an instructor or as a member in different committees inside an establishment.
a brief introduction was also given to us regarding various committees in the colleges along with their duties in running their obligations.
