The third time around, and it keeps getting better!  I so enjoy collaborating with you on the J term Slow Looking course.  You bring so much to the experience: Your deep knowledge of ‘slow,’ your intuitive understanding of students’ needs and interests, your ability to comment warmly and incisively on students’ writing, and perhaps most especially, the way you weave poetry into the class (metaphorically as well as literally).  The class finale you led this year in the Woodberry Poetry Room was truly an inspiration.  I look forward to our continued collaborations.

You work and teach and learn in settings of conflict and displacement. You always bring yourselves and your experiences to our students, and never more so than this semester as you guided and cared for and listened and taught amid disruption and uncertainty that was no longer just the content of our course but the reality for so many of our students and ourselves. You enabled students to rise to the challenges of their continued learning in the context of your support and care – not a trade-off of one or the other but a synthesis. Thank you for your courage and your unwavering commitment to our students. I loved growing together into the team and the kinds of teachers our students needed.

There are no words to express how grateful I am for you. Your wisdom, kindness, and amazing organizational skills were an anchoring point through my first year at HGSE (and the crazy year it was!).  You have enriched the MBE course with your intellect, pedagogical skillfulness, infinite positive energy, and passion for issues of equity and diversity. Jenn, you were our technology wizard and helped us to navigate uncharted waters in ways that came across as seamless.  Thank you, too, for all of your support of the students.  I know how much they appreciated your deep expertise as a teacher and your ability to help them to get to the essentials.  I am excited about the possibilities that the future holds for continuing to work together!

Megan, it is hard to find the words to express deeply enough how lucky I know I am to have you on the T543 teaching team.  You are so knowledgeable about instructional design, caring to the students, and so skilled in guiding students to work at their learning edges. It also gave us a window into your new life as a mom, particularly when the tiniest and cutest member of the teaching team joined our meetings and distracted us with her sweet smiles!  I am so happy to have you as a colleague and a friend.

Thinking back on our dream team for the Data Wise Leadership Institute this January is a source of joy.  Your dedication to building and teaching the Northaven Equity Case allowed us to make big strides toward our goal of fully integrating equity as the “Why” for Data Wise.  Your commitment to supporting your teams in taking an equity lens helped our practitioner teams grow in new ways.

 

We learned so much by acting, assessing and adjusting with you, André, Andi and Anthony from our subterranean bunker on Brattle Street.  Thank you for bringing your full selves to our shared work.
