They took some back with them to study them. They used Sacagawea to know which were good and bad, which were poisonous and which weren't. They named the plants different from their original names just like they did with the animals. Here is some of the names of the plants: American Silverberry = Elaeagnus commutataBear Grass = Xerophyllum tenaxBigleaf Maple = Acer macrophyllum

    For Animals they named them differently than their real names. They believed that unicorns were real and other non existing things. They discovered over one hundred animal species. They discovered at least 120 mammals and fish, birds and reptiles. Some of the name they had for different animals are :

    • Aleutian Canada Goose = Branta canadensis leucopareia
