Students respecting one another and holding great admiration to each other help build a community. Students' respect isn't limited to only other students, students should also respect their teachers and people in higher authority. Respect is a valuable trait as respect help build character and students' reputation when they entire society and develop into somewhat successful adults. Respect shows how valuable students are as individuals and respecting others causes students to have good character and obedience.

Tolerance to all cultures, races, genders, beliefs, religions, and sexual orientation should be maintained at all times. Edison is a diverse community with many different cultures and people with various beliefs. In such a community, the respect for others and their beliefs is imperative in ensuring order and goodwill. As society becomes more and more acceptive of differing opinions, students must learn to tolerate these beliefs in order to succeed in life. Thus, upholding tolerance in Edison High will help students strengthen relationships with others and prepare them with future interaction after they graduate.
-Sophia Tan

Responsibility should be given towards your work and the work given to you by someone. This trait should not only be exercised in school, but also at home with your family and the responsibilities that you take on. Whether it is taking care of your siblings or even just washing the dishes. In school, you should be responsible for your own work by staying on top of your homework, and constantly studying for tests and quizzes. Responsibility shows how one can be independent and take care of themselves well.

Selflessness is a trait that is important not only in school but society as well. Within the school grounds, selflessness is key in building community and creating an environment that is comfortable. Students should be willing to step in to help each other so that they may succeed together. If a fellow peer needs help, students should look past themselves to help them. By doing this students will strengthen their moral values that will assist them by making them less susceptible to negative influence as they grow and leave school to join the real world.

Persistence is a key trait that should be emphasized on both school grounds and the outside world. Obstacles can constantly arise in our daily lives and students must be able to stand against those obstacles. For example, if a student struggles with a lesson or fails a test, they must grasp that determination to continue to work hard and find a way around their obstacle. From the perspective of a high school student, stress is a major obstacle; thus, the trait of persistence must be valued especially amongst high school students. Students must not take education for granted and should always endure to strive success under any circumstance. Giving up is not an option, for every student is capable of such success.

Honesty in everyday life toward all and oneself breeds other significant values, such as trustworthiness, responsibility, self-respect and the like. It can be seen in actions like acting the same way one would in front of others, owning up one's mistakes. On and off school grounds, being an honest individual not only creates room to expand one's moral values, but creates room to progress an individual and correct any past mistakes, as being honest and admitting to them is the foremost step.

I agree with Sophia. Being able to have tolerance is definitely a beneficial trait to have in our advancing society. There will be people in high school who will rub you the wrong way. Someone must not act out of impulsive when another person disagrees with them. There needs to be a breather when opposing ideas are present.

I agree with Janhavi's code of honour, placing responsibility at the top. Many people are quick to create excuses for why they hadn't done well on a test or why they did not do their home work. Responsibility initiates a sense of maturity, forcing a student to own up to their issues and correct them, not run away from them.
