What If They Went Extinct?

Eastern Lowland Gorillas consume a lot of vegetation. Because of this, they spread seeds of trees and plants that they eat. Due to their nomadic lifestyle, they are also always opening gaps in between trees, letting light shine through for other plants. Because of their intelligence, they are also able to destroy traps and snares, saving the lives of many other animals who live in the jungle too. Hypothetically, if they were to go extinct, a lot of the population of different species of plants and trees would probably decrease. The working traps and snares would also decrease the populations of the animals that got caught in them.

Competition
Gorillas compete with other primates and apes for food and territory. Because of their nomadic lifestyles, gorillas are always looking for new places with food and water within the same area. The monkeys and smaller apes are faster and more agile meaning that they are able to take as much as they can without getting caught.

Conditions & Solutions

The main issues with the Lowland Rainforest Biome include: deforestation, residential/commercial development, mining, and civil unrest. Because of these human activities, the rainforests are decreasing in size every year. We can solve these issues by: planting trees made for human use, plant more trees in the rainforest to recover it, mine elsewhere, and unite and peacefully protest so that we can increase our chances of letting our voices being heard and improving the government.
