Jewish people living in the harsh ghettos often made secret libraries and made poetry as a form of spiritual resistance against the Nazis. Częstochowa, Poland had more than 1,000 readers, using the books they read to help them move forward. The Theresienstadt ghetto had a 60,000 volume library, holding books and hope for the people living there.
