Biodiversity is often discussed in terms of species, genetic, and ecosystem diversity, although these levels are inseparable. Species diversity refers to the variety of different species on Earth, from microorganisms to large plants and animals. Genetic diversity encompasses the variations in genes within a particular species, influencing how individuals adapt to their environments. Ecosystem diversity considers the interactions between living organisms and their non-living environment, with complex ecosystems like tropical forests hosting a large number of species

Genetic diversity is defined as the range of different inherited traits within a species. High genetic diversity within a species indicates numerous individuals with a wide variety of traits, which is essential for adapting to changing environments. A fun fact is that even though humans can look different, they are 99.9% identical in their genetic makeup.
