For my choice project I chose to make the letter D to represent my last name, Day. Also, I decided to make it sea-themed because my family enjoys the beach and ocean a lot. To make this project I used two stiff slabs in the shape of the letter D, making sure to make one slightly larger because I was not intending to bevel the edges. I used a soft slab to make the curved side of the D. The most annoying thing about this project was the time it took for the stiff slabs to actually stiffen up. After making the D I cut shapes out of it, used slip design, put a figurine on top, and created a scene using scraffito techniques on the back. I tried to incorporate as many techniques that I could on this project. To glaze this project I decided to use lagoon blue, mirror blue, tide pool, wild fire, Mediterranean blue, blue, and wonder glazes. I used all these blue and green colors because the ocean has all those colors. The most difficult part of glazing is to completely cover the project and to prevent the colors from bleeding together. Overall, this project was a fun and easy project to make and it came out alright.
