My audience was the friend I wrote it to. The purpose was to bring happiness to my friend and build connection, as well as demonstrate a level of thoughtfulness. I'd like to imagine I achieved my purpose, but if my letter was terrible and made my friend cry, I wouldn't know. I could have just said what I wanted to say in a voice recording, but written word is pretty cool. I chose to write to make it an accessible memory to my friend.

I received a good grade on the paper so I would like to think I achieved what was necessary.
