For example, for Hassan's birthday, Baba brought over a plastic surgeon to fix Hassan's cleft lip. Also, on page 51, when Amir wanted a bigger and fancier kite, Baba got the same one for Hassan.

10: It is noticeable that Hassan is well mannered compared to Amir. Given the status Amir's family has within their town it would make more sense for him to be aware of what is right and wrong. In contrast, Hassan is kind and well mannered even when being pushed to do wrong by Amir. He does feel remorse when he did wrong and does tend to stray away from violence.

Austin- The first six chapters display a lot of examples of violence, but at the beginning of chapter 5 this section of text really stood out to me. “Something roared like thunder. The Earth shook a little and we heard the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire. ‘Father!’ Hassan cried. We sprung to our feet and raced out of the living room. We found Ali hobbling frantically across the foyer. ‘Father! What's that sound?’ Hassan yelped, his hands outstretched toward Ali. Ali wrapped his arms around. A white light flashed, lit the sky in silver. It flashed again and is followed by rapid staccato gunfire” (Hosseini 35).
