11th GRADES

Interview with people: My Friends E11.9.L1. Students will be able to organize specific information in a narrative about a person or an event.

Logo/ Banners: Values and Norms E11.10.W1. Students will be able to write an essay about the importance and effects of values and norms in society.

*Introducing towns and countries activities are related to our Geography lessons at school.

*Notable persons and local heroes are related to History lesson.

Our students from the 9th class ( first class of high school in Italy) will benefit from this e-twinning experience by interacting with their peers in an online protected and shared environment .

Our school curriculum is specifically based on foreign languages in particular : English , French, Spanish and Chinese.

The first step: "Introduction of students" matches our school curriculum because it's the first phase of talking and introducing themselves.

"Citizenship games/ activities" is a further development of our school lessons .

In fact, in our Classic European High School each teacher dedicates some hours to Citizenship. At the beginning of the school year the school council gathers and distributes Citizenship lessons to all teachers. During the school year, each teacher develops their lessons on Citizenship.

"Netiquette rules"

Our students learn from textbooks and online lessons in the labs, the importance of their online behaviour but talking and writing in this online project they'll practice and learn how to be polite and respectful.

During our laboratory hours students work online and carry out research on several topics , thanks to this project they'll learn more about different people from different countries and they will also improve their knowledge in geography.

1. In the 6th section of the 3rd grade (Junior High) textbook, students are taught the concept of citizenship as there is the theme: "Becoming active citizens in defence of universal values". It is suggested that students should adopt a critical and self-critical attitude towards problems such as poverty, oppression, social injustice and the values of volunteering, solidarity, respect for diversity and cooperation is emphasised.

2. Also in the textbook of the 1st grade of High School, in the subjects of Language, Dialogue and Third Age, emphasis is placed on active citizenship and the characteristics of responsible citizenship.

3. It is also worth noting that from the school year 2024-2025 the Curriculum Programme (CP) "Active Cizen Actions" is applied in all classes of Primary and Secondary Education in Greece. This CP prepares citizens with critical thinking skills, cooperation and social responsibility who actively contribute to the creation of a sustainable society, based on sustainability, social justice and environmental protection. This programme is taught as a compulsory part of specific subjects(Social and Civic Education, Geography etc.) and optionally (and this is our case) in any other subject where there is a need to enhance students' active citizenship. At the end of each school year, a record is made of the participation of pupils in activities to strengthen active citizenship in correspondence with the thematic areas of the CP. At the end of the educational grade, their participation is recorded on a certificate which they receive together with the High School diploma/certificate.

We use the principles of citizenship in school, especially in student counseling classes.

In middle school classes, European values ​​are studied. For high school classes, these things are presented mainly in the projects carried out within the local community.

These competences are integrated across all subjects and projects in Primary Education, ensuring that students develop the necessary skills to navigate and contribute effectively to society.

It supports the development of all key communicative competences outlined in the curriculum: linguistic, sociolinguistic, pragmatic, and intercultural, by engaging students in real-life language use through collaborative tasks, such as research, debates, storytelling, social campaigns, podcasting, and digital content creation.

The project integrates relevant curricular themes like school life, cultural diversity, and the social/informational environment.

Its SMART objectives, promoting civic responsibility, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy, directly reflect the curriculum’s focus on competency-based learning and the use of digital tools.

Moreover, by encouraging intercultural dialogue and student participation in democratic practices, the project enhances learners’ active citizenship skills while supporting the teaching of English as a foreign language in a meaningful and motivating context.

-Students will be able to analyze surveys/interviews to answer related questions.

-Students will be able to make a presentation about unusual/odd news stories

-Students will be able to list vocabulary for narrating and describing events in a text.
