When Ana Rosa said mami hands were cold,as a river.she is describing about mami’s hand to connect to her emotion.she was suggesting to us that mami is worried.Mami know that letting the neighbors know might give away the news to the government, and nobody but the president is allow to write she is worried about Ana Rosa.

 When Mami said to let Ana Rosa write the story. People disagree with her. The people don’t know Ana Rosa can write. Also the people think Ana Rosa is too young to write.  The point is people don’t believe Ana Rosa have to ability to write. “Then everyone watched me and waited. I stood there trembling, holding that notebook with my story close to my heart. I knew right then that this was it. The hole would would find out about me.”

I believe this quote is important because it is the development as a writer for Ana Rosa. Ana rosa is about to reveal her deepest secrets to everyone.she of course is worried.she is trembling. She also holds the story close to her heart. This proves to us that she is nervous about revealing her secret, but somehow will gain courage to let it out. Page 41 “I saw Mami with her hands folded and her head bowed as if she were praying. I saw the neighbors smiling and nodding their heads”. This might mean Mami is very nervous. I know this because it says “Mami gave it to me and her hands were cold like the river”. This means Mami was very nervous.
 


We chose this line because it shows how the neighbors are starting to see Ana Rosa as a writer.

The theme of the story is to fight for what you think is right.
I chose this theme because the whole story Ana Rosa was either fighting for the right to be able to write and she had to write to keep the land and she didn’t give up.

This means that everyone in the village thinks Ana Rosa is crazy for climbing up a tree.  Ana Rosa is basically being called weird for just trying to think about the poems that keep flowing and “walk away slip off the edge and drown”.

Mami mind is changing which means that she is putting her daughter in danger by letting the neighbors know that Ana Rosa is a writer but Mami is doing this because she realized that Ana Rosa was desperate to write when Ana Rosa stole the notebook.

The neighbors are starting to change their minds from thinking omg what is this crazy twelve year old doing on the top of that tree to omg this crazy girl is actually really good at writing no wonder why she went up there. Even Guario who is all serious actually understood for the first time.
