These faulty machines have been linked to some 750 fires according to Which? including the huge blaze in an 18-storey tower block in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, in August 2016. 
The most up to date figures suggest that after a year Whirlpool has now fixed around 1.3m machines, meaning around nearly 3m customers are still using faulty models.
The UK Whirpool twitter account regularly posts about new products, but all replies seem to be responses to angry customer's complaints regarding the waiting time for repairs for the faulty dryers.
