2. The Cold War 1947 - Tension between the US and Soviet Union because of capitalism and communism. - Both Countries wanted to spread their ideology. 
3.  Geneva Accords 1954 - North and South Vietnam are established, dividing at the 17th parallel. 
4. Attacks on Gulf of Tonkin 1964 - A US ship is attacked and airstrikes are called against North Vietnam. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution is passed which allows for military action. - This marks the United States' official entrance into the war.
