In pre-school the learning that I was most familar with was hands-on learrning with an emphasis placed on coordination. This is also where most young children, learn the alphabet, are taught how to follow instructions, and had my first exposure to different arts and sports as well. One of my more core memories of elementary school would be the 'carpet time' that was had where I was taught during our group reading time what the characteristics of a good listener were. We also had heavy usage of music to aid in memorization in elementary school.

A learning theory I feel that I utilize quite often is connectivism. This theory suggests that the connections formed within an educational setting can often help students learn better and also help to create a support system. Grace and I often utilize each other to help one another when we find ourselves struggling with a topic the other is familiar with. In the case of our Educational Psych class, we often study together and help each other fully grasp and understand the topics discussed in class.

In relation to school, technology is a useful tool and a very dangerous distraction. I love that modern technology makes it so easy to access information from various sources, makes studying possible virtually anywhere, and allows us to share information readily. However, I can also find myself intending to use technology as a tool but often get distracted by the many ways there are to pass the time that are more instantly gratifying and appealing. All this to say, while it is a distraction at times, The ease of access to information, the ability to keep track of my classes and assignments in one, consolidated, easily portable, and easily edited place, and the usage of music to encourage focus and keep my thoughts from wandering too far leads me to enjoy technology for the tool that it can be.

Most of my motivation comes from my family. Their encouragement and support in my endeavors as as college student mean the world to me. I want to male them proid and set an example for my younger siblings so that they see what is possible despite certain circumstances. My goal is to be able to help my siblings when they get to this same part of their journey as a resource but also as a support system.
