Before taking up the module, I only have a little knowledge regarding sculpture. Whenever I hear the word sculpture, the thought of big statues and replicas of a person or group of people that is commonly made out of marble immediately pops into my head. There are sculptures that are very famous in Europe such as the sculpture of David, I also know that they symbolize something or portrays a message regarding about an event or issue. Honestly speaking, back then I didn't really know how to appreciate a sculpture. I just take a look at it and try to ponder about what the sculpture exhibits. I really don't look at the little details that makes up a sculpture.

2.What I learned in the module about the form and sculpture as a Fine art

Upon taking the module, I acquired a wider and deeper understanding and appreciation for sculpture. I learned how thoroughly describe a sculpture by looking at its simplest details. All sculptures that is fine art is beautiful and it has a value. Sculpture evolves as time passes by. In a sculpture, every detail has its significance such as the size, The facial expressions, posture etc. The facial expressions illustrates the message and emotions of the sculpture. For example, in the David sculpture, his posture illustrate the victory on his battle with Goliath. I also learned that the principles of sculpture such as orientation (contrapposto & chiastic stance, axiality and frontality), scale (the size), balance (physical stability of the sculpture), proportion (connection & relation of each parts) and articulation (binding of sculpture). It was also discussed in class that different countries has it own focus regarding sculpture such as the greek focused on placing harmony where nothing is out of proportion. Greek sculpture has 2 types. The Archaic which is rigid, Classical and Hellenistic where it exhibits a severe expression and is an open form.

I still would like to know more about sculptures. If given a chance, I would like to see and describe more sculptures and interpret the message that the sculpture depicts. I would also like to learn more about the sculptures of other countries. Like how such country's culture influenced their way of creating the sculpture. I also want to learn how do different sculptors, especially in the modern times. I also want to know more about the modern sculpture such as the techniques, inspiration and the uniqueness of the modern sculpture than the sculptures before.

On the other hand, the romans was inspired by the greeks but the difference is the romans is it is more personalized. They used sculpture as a propaganda so they sculpted actual people. Roman sculpture is classified into three: statues, busts and architectural.
