Treatment - there is no antivral that is FDA-approved to treat adenovirus. Most infections can be cared for with over-the-counter medications to treat symptoms, rest, and plenty of fluids.
1. Cidofovir is not currently approved FDA-approved but has been used in individuals that are immunocompromised to treat the virus in severe cases.

A study conducted indicated that out of 15 children examined, 89% with hepatitis of unknown etiology tested positive for adenovirus. Whether human adenovirus was the causative agent of hepatitis is still under investigation.
