The tales of Beedle the bard is a book by J.K Rowling that includes five short stories that witches and wizards in the harry potter world would tell to their young children. These stories are witch and wizard versions of stories like little red riding hood or the three little pigs. The tale I have read so far is the wizard and the hopping pot. The wizard and the hopping pot is about a wizard who lives in a non magic village and uses his magical cooking pot to brew potions to cure his community's sicknesses. But when the wizard dies and his muggle (non magic) hating son takes over and ignores the villagers problems, everything goes wrong. When he declines a old peasant woman's plead to cure her granddaughters terrible warts, his fathers old cooking pot grows a single foot of brass, sprouts warts that are irreversible and follows him   everywhere. When he ignores another person his cooking pot constantly reminds him of their illnesses by mirroring them. I think the section that I have read up to has been both despairing and exciting. This is because Lilian has finally turned into a normal girl again, though she didn't know the consequences that she will face. In conclusion, after things changed,  where Lillian transforms back into a cat, but her aunt still alive, she continues searching for a way to also change herself back into her normal human form. Soon, she came across the Apple Tree Man (a spirit of a tree), who supported her in her goal. Moreover, the Father of Cats (a giant black panther) came in contact, solving all her troubles with his magic. At first, Lillian was afraid of him thinking him as a devil, but he manged to help her. She was, however, demanded to give back something in return, in exchange of this powerful magic. Penny has been highly suspecting them all and has followed them to the secret hiding spot in the library at midnight. She was shocked, and full of fury, willing to tell the headmaster. She darted out trying to tell on the girls for their actions, but he wasn't there at his office. The next day, Ariadne has just been expelled. She was accused of starting the fire because she was the one who rang the fire alarm. However, she wasn't the one who began the incident. She was soon picked up by her father but Scarlet and Ivy promised that they'll bring her back. Unfortunately, Rose and Violet were captured  and discovered by the headmaster. He left them to be under care by Miss Finch, which was good because she knew all this at the first place, helping Rose out of the asylum and keeping her safe in secret.

Finally, the twins had an idea. They stammered up to the headmaster's office and demanded to talk. They knew he was the one who killed the girl who drowned and burnt down the library because he knew they were getting close to the find the truth and was trying to destroy the evidence. He confessed he did kill the girl many years ago and threatened that he'll kill both Scarlet and Ivy if he had the chance. However, he was too late. Scarlet and Ivy had brought the police with them hiding behind the headmaster's door, being able to listen to all the commotion occurring. He was arrested and all was good for the moment. Penny and Violet got along once again and Rose was allowed to stay at the school for a while. The Whispers in the Walls have been heard.

Soon, a ballet recital is announced for the performance Beauty and the Beast, where one student will be chosen to play the lead role. Scarlet would practice all day and night to get the part, but Penny will be doing so as well. The rivals are both determined for the part and Penny would do anything to get rid of Scarlet. That is why she is secretly threatening Ivy. Penny's plot was to get Ivy into telling Scarlet about how she is being bullied, but if she does, Scarlet will probably throw Penny out of a window. This way, Scarlet would get in trouble and would affect her chance of becoming the main dancer in the ballet recital. Since Ariadne was the true genius of the three, she works out that the older sister is Scarlet and Ivy’s aunt who could be alive. Their mother passed away shortly after their birth so if they find their aunt, they might be able to know more about their mother.

They were given information about the fact that Sara and Ida both had pearl necklaces which Ivy inherited and that Sara had a passion for making dresses. This way, Scarlet and Ivy can find their aunt easier looking for a shop for dresses in town. The three girls found an excuse to leave Rookwood to go into town but with the company of one of the older prefects.

Sara revealed about her sister relationship with Scarlet and Ivy’s  mother, Ida and the hardship they have been through. Ida was part of the Whispers in the Walls club trying to bring down the headmaster many years ago. Her friend Emmeline Adel was part of the club as well but was put to drown at Rookwood’s lake as punishment from the headmaster (Mr.Bartholomew). Ida was devastated and tried to avenge him but he threatened and frightened her that she will end up the same fate as well. She then decided to flee the school looking for a new place to live the rest of her life. Soon, Ida fell in love with Scarlet and Ivy’s father where she had to lie to him. Even though she didn’t want to, Ida faked her identity to Emmeline Adel so that her husband wouldn’t know about her past. Since then, she has been sending letters to Sara explaining whatever she has been through. Both the sisters were afraid of going back to Rookwood ever again and that was when Ida gave birth to Scarlet and Ivy. Ida truly loved her daughters, even though they for long thought nobody ever had.

Scarlet and Ivy now knows the truth about their mother but now there were more things they had to encounter. Penny was enraged at Scarlet for winning the main role in Sleeping Beauty and now she was as furious as ever. She spilled out that she bullied Ivy and that made Scarlet attack Penny. That was what Penny wanted, for Scarlet to get in trouble and banned from the ballet recital, but they end up both taken out of the performance. Scarlet was crushed and she blamed Penny for everything. At least Ivy got a part in the recital which Scarlet was actually jealous of. Before the great performance at the grand theatre in town though, Ariadne, Scarlet and Ivy had a talk with Madame Zelda, because they thought she was behind all the trouble of letters and chaos that’s been occurring ever since she came. She didn’t commit these doings but she confessed what she had done. Long ago, she was a rival of Miss Finch in ballet as a child and was the one who pushed her off stage, breaking her leg. This is where Madame Zelda gives the reason that the only reason she came to Rookwood was to try redeem her actions and make up for what she has done to Miss Finch. Now the girls and Madame Zelda will work together to rescue Miss Finch because she’s in danger. Together they tracked her down in an abandoned lodge north of the school. She was taken by her mother, Miss Fox who was now back to destroy Rookwood. As Scarlet and Ivy have thought, Miss Fox was the one behind all the madness. The ballet recital was on the same day and she was bound to ruin it all there at the performance. Now, Scarlet, Ivy, Ariadne, Miss Finch and Madame Zelda needs to be prepared for whatever Miss Fox plans. 

At the end, at the performance, Miss Fox was finally arrested, the show went through perfectly, and everything came to an end. The parents who came watch was proven that Rookwood was again a great school and all was well.

 Soon the teachers take the students to a horse riding trip following a trail into the forest. Scarlet and Ivy are not so confident at this but Ariadne seems to be a professional herself already. Rose loves horses as well and she cheered up a lot better. However, at one point, what seemed like a gunshot sounded and chaos was unleashed. Horses rushed around panicking and the girls had to hold on to their lives to survive. Mrs. Knight seemed to have broke her arm from falling off her horse and all the other girls were gathered around Rose. They say she was the one responsible but luckily Scarlet, Ivy and Ariadne came to help in time. Rose also had a golden locket around her neck and when the wicked prefects, Cassandra and Elsie tried to snatch it off, Rose just screamed. At the same time, she ran away.

This was how someone must have gone around at night vandalizing and messing people's stuff. The girls soon find out that Bob Owens (the man who guided them in the cave) could have been the one creating all the madness because he was vengeful that his village was flooded. That was why he wanted to scare the people out of the valley. To waste no more time, the three girls set off out into the storm once more to save Rose if she was in danger. At first they found their way to a tower at the lake where Mr. Owens lived and received all the truth. Then, they looked around in the forest, in hope to rescue Rose. At the edge of a cliff they found her. Even more, to their shock, Phylis and Julian Moss (her husband) were looming over Rose, demanding for her locket. As it seems, Julian was Rose's cousin and wanted all the power. Therefore he didn't want Rose to gain the inheritance of the family and the key in her locket would open a safe that had the proof she was the rightful heir to the family. Julian was going to destroy it but his plans failed. Since he tried to push Scarlet off the cliff, Rose was enraged and threw her locket away into the lake and Julian went after it where he disappeared. After the incident, all the problems were cleared, Phylis was taken to the police and the Rookwood girls travel back to school once more.

However, to Scarlet and Ivy's worst nightmare, they had to stay at their father and stepmother's house. Their stepmother, Edith, wants to get rid of them more than everything and she would be the mean troll to their lives whenever their father wasn't there. Even more it was their fourteenth which was awful. Their family seemed to not care much but at least they had two of the most loveliest aunts who adored them dearly. Soon, a new year of Rookwood begins and the twins were once again sent back. This time there were many new students. In assembly everyone was assigned with their new room mates and rooms. Ariadne, unfortunately had to be with this new girl, Muriel Witherspoon who was actually her worst bully back at her old school. It seems, though that she must have turned a new leaf and was quiet but friendly to Ariadne instead. 

As the girls got into their lessons, there was another new girl, Ebony Mcloud. She was most mysterious and it seems as if she has put the teachers under her spell. Whenever she  misbehaved or ignored what the teacher's asked, they would just let her off the hook. She wasn't the type of witch-like person who she seemed to be but in fact, a shy girl only wanting to achieve her dreams. Everything she's done was just acting and she had no intention of hurting anyone. 

She met Muriel in the first place and they worked together ever since. Muriel described that Ariadne ruined her life and was planning to give payback for making her expelled from their previous school. When they finally found Ariadne, they had to face Muriel but she tricked them and locked them down there too. To escape, they lit a fire and that burned away the locked door, where they were free. 

Soon, the teachers were alarmed and caught them all up at late of night including Muriel.

By the end, Muriel was expelled, Ebony still stayed in Rookwood and everything was once again fine.
