         <description><![CDATA[<div>Making food for people in America will contribute a lot to the environmental sustainability. Americans want their food fast and cheap because they are always either on the go or too tired to cook. When we ship food to our country it deteriorates the environment. The boats used to ship the food contributes to air pollution and other environmental pollution, "Shipping our food long distances and processing it not only contributes to air and water pollution, but depletes the food nutrients" (Food Sources and Nutrition, 13). With humans, being at the top of the food chain, our environmental pollution hurts all the other animals/mammals, all the way to the bottom of the food chain. We are also getting less nutrition per calorie because of the food processing. The USDA provides us with these statistics, “The USDA (US Department of Agriculture) has been tracking the nutritional quality of produce since the 1950s and has seen a steady decline. According to Brian Halwell, a researcher for WorldWatch, vitamin C has declined by 20 percent, iron by 15 percent, riboflavin by 38 percent, and calcium by 16 percent” (Food Sources and Nutrition, 13). The nutrition in different types of foods has gone down substantially over the past 30 years.&nbsp;<br>Dietary supplements can have benefits but there are also risks of using these supplements. The dietary supplements help replace lost nutrition values in our body, “Today's dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbals and botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and many other products”&nbsp; (Food Sources and Nutrition, 11). They come in many different types of products and they help us get the nutrition that we need to live a healthy life. There could be side effects to these products. Side effects could happen due to a use of a new product or even mixing many different products together. Make sure to you know what you are taking and how it can effect you, “Supplements are most likely to cause side effects or harm when people take them instead of prescribed medicines or when people take many supplements in combination” (Food Sources and Nutrition, 11).&nbsp; Different supplements can interact with other medication that a person is taking, certain medications can mix with the supplements and adverse reactions. Even though the dietary supplements can help your nutrition levels increase, it could also have many different risks that you should be aware of.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I take gummy vitamins every day. I Take these vitamins to get more iron in my system. One time I went to the doctors office and the took my blood. They came back and told me that the iron level in my blood was below normal but not enough to have any serious medical condition. Then on, I started to take vitamins that would help me get my iron levels where I need it to be. So far I have not had any side effects to the vitamins and it has helped me get my iron levels up. For me it did more good than harm but for other people it could be the complete opposite.</div>]]></description>
