Jacqueline woodson, in the exposition of Brown girl dreaming was trying to show us that Jackie is confident in herself, thinking, "that it isn't as good as it will get, all of this will turn into something better." Jackie is a big dreamer. An example would be that Jackie is constantly writing everything she thinks of. Jackie was one of those who would dream it and make it happen, in writing. Jackie has faith in dreams, she believes that all of her dreams will come true, especially with confidence.

The setting in my book, Brown girl dreaming, the setting was constantly changing and moving around. First, the family was in Ohio, then Greenville, South Carolina and finally New York.On page 136 Jackie is stating that she is leaving greenville, again. Jackie is praying that she will get a permanent home. Plus, there are a couple of chapters in my story with titles about leaving home. Although, feeling sad to leave doesn't mean giving up.

The main conflict in my story was white v.s. black. Or in other words, segregation. Jackie wants there to be peace in this world and she does what she can to stop segregation. Whenever the family would go to New York and South Carolina, they were always forced to move to the back of the bus. Jackie just wishes that she could stand up for this.

characters

There are two types of characters in the story, Brown Girl Dreaming. Jacqueline Woodson, the author of this nonfiction history book, has put a really obvious dynamic character and static character. In order to be a dynamic character, you have to change somehow throughout the course of the story. Maria, Jackie's best friend since day one. Sadly, Jackie had to move away from Maria for the summer and she was one of those caring, loving people who didn't care about how and what people judged her for. Soon, white people came into her life and she became a snotty rich brat. Another character in this historical fiction is the static character, Jackie. Jackie shows that she is always going to be the same, black person. She doesn't want her loving heart to change although the life around her is constantly changing she will never give up in herself. According to page 143, Jackie states, "Maybe it's a another New York City, but I'm not another me."

Jackie Woodson, a protester for segregation, wrote my book and is also the protaganist. Also being the narrarator, Jackie concludes why she wants to find a real home. This is because Jackie and her family are constatly switching homes. Jackie prays that she can be free and find a permanent home. Jackie is moving all of her life and she wants to be a normal girl in a normal home and a normal 'black' life.

Sometimes things in life aren't always as perfect as you want them to be, in this case, Jacqueline Woodson wrote this book so that there was a lot of imperfect times in the family's life. I think the message that Jacqueline Woodson wanted to leave with the reader was very strong. Sometimes people are beautiful, not in color or looks, but what they hold deep down inside. Jackie has a beautiful heart, she isn't the only black person who does. We just have to build trust relationships with people.

Everything started to fall in place like rain drops falling to the ground. This happened when Jackie's family got a hold onto a nice house and a decent chunk of land in the country, where Jackie knew she belonged. Jaqueline Woodson decided to write this historical non-fiction, which is also considered an autobiography since Jackie had a sense of writing down her life. Jackie knew deep down that she could be a normal person in a normal home with a normal family. According to Jackie, " life takes you to unexpected places, but love takes you home." Jackie and her family always had an ache inside themeslves to find a home. Until one day did they know that everything would fall into place, and so it happened. That ache was covered with a band-aid of love. Home is not where you are from, it is where you belong, and Jackie know that she belongs in the country of Ohio.
