Our group will focus on what parents need both as parents of Scholarship Prep scholars and as community members in Santa Ana. We believe in supporting all parents in helping them gain the confidence to support their scholar at home and to learn and grow within our school community.

Fundraising for our magnets! We are awaiting our invoice and needed $ amount to connect with Chipotle to start fundraising for our magnets. Once we have that in place, we will be connecting with Starbucks to match those donations. Our goal is to have the fundraiser and matching set up by the end of the month. We will also be hosting a committee-only RJ circle to prepare for a staff-wide RJ circle in November.

* It was well organized and efficient.
* Next time we can have more decorations, invite parents to decorate cars, have a sign we can put on the car or students to hold for a photo opportunity. Perhaps we can get bumper stickers, or a pennant or medal for EOY awards.
* We could also have the SP pom-poms.
* We will print out awards for the next awards.
* Inserts for awards for EOY.

March: Preparing students for iReady, ELPAC, and CAASP testing
Are there links on the ELPAC site to share out with parents? We want parents to know what this test is! Katelynn G will create a one pager to help families better understand how to help their child with testing and what the test is!
April: Focusing our energy on preparing resources for "summer practice" & possibly another parent workshop about internet safety
May: Sending out resources to parents in all grade levels about ways to engage learners over the summer.
Ideas to include:
How to teach reading/help your child with reading at home
Fostering literacy in the home
Different ideas for upper/lower grade
Summer supports to send in May - can many other staff members participate in sharing expertise or preparing parents for working with their child over the summer? We know that many staff members have tons of expertise in helping parents!
Questions we have:
Will students have Chromebooks over the summer?
What resources/apps/programs will students still have access to over the summer?
What local programs are out there for families over the summer (library, city, etc)

*In collaboration with Mrs. Fernandez
- We love the idea of a workshop that is 30 minutes or less
- We love that the workshops can be recorded for parents to watch in their own time
- Can videos be made that are shorter (5 minute tips and tricks)?
- Before planning a 2nd workshop, we want to see what kind of turn out the first one gets! We would love to plan a second one for April!

Hello Promotion Committee, (congratulations!!)

The yearbook season is here, and we wanted to keep you in the loop regarding your 8th-grade Scholars. Bernadette creates the 8th-grade promotion spread (thank you!) across two pages with the Scholars in their cap and gown and below a favorite quote and/or aspirations for their future career. To make this happen for this most deserving class, we will need:

Teachers push out this google form this week to our 8th graders to get that info. We will keep track to ensure we have information from each Scholar.
Promotion picture day (cap and gown photo); will be by appointment only with all safety precautions in place and hoping for a Saturday picture day. More info to come.
We also offer a yearbook 8th-grade congratulation page from families. (see attached) This is just a heads up Laura and I will push this out along with High School Information night for parents and Scholars. More info to come.
We will begin planning for promotion (Thursday, May 27th) and would love input from teachers, student leaders, and ASB to make it as special as possible.
