This slideshow is inspired by the famous author, Ahn Do. He is from Vietnam, and he's famous for his books like : Weirdo, Hotdog, and Ninja Kid. He even makes books about his own migration\refugee experience.

Ahn Do was 3 years old when he became a refugee. When he was little he used to be poor with a family of 10+ living in a hut the size of a room. But it was towards the end of the Vietnamese civil war, and Ahn Do had to leave Vietnam because he didn't feel safe. So villagers, families and friends cramped on a small boat with 40+ people on. It wasn't a good feeling. Along the way they faced 2 pirate attacks and a heavy thunderstorm, but after about a week they got picked up by a German cargo ship that saved their lives. When they arrived, they arrived at this Malaysian island called ¨Pulau Bidong¨ and stayed at a refugee camp there for 2 months. And after that they had to leave to Australia. But they didn't know they were even in Australia!..

As in the introduction he used to be a refugee and his reasons of migrating was because his side of Vietnam was on the losing side, and Ahn Do didn't feel safe. After they left Vietnam because of the war. A lot of people cramped on a small fishing boat and after many challenges, they arrived in Australia.

There were quite a lot, they faced 2 attempted pirate attacks, a heavy storm while sailing and hunger. But everyone had high hopes, and on the way, they got picked up by a German cargo ship and got sent to an Malaysian Refugee camp and stayed there for a while. Then they headed off to Australia where it was much weirder for them than back in Vietnam. It was different because the australian culture is very different between Vietnamese. Because a lot of Vietnamese people migrated to Australia, in some parts of Australia has mixed cultures with Vietnamese.

As if today we would need a visa or passport to prove your not trespassing and if you didn't, you would be locked up or sent back to where you came from. But Ahn Do was lucky that he got greeted and treated well in Australia because it was the 1980´s
