People have become too invested in the need for validation on social media. This change, means that people can finally start to post things, with the purpose of sharing a memory or something important to them rather than going to extreme lengths to get as many likes as possible.

Although this does affect Instagram influencers who rely on this process to bring in money. These people can focus on being a positive influence that evokes change, amongst their followers rather than just being a popular social media presence.

It's a good idea to hide them. It's a way for people to express whatever they want and not feeling like they are getting judged based on the likes they get. It's a way to let yourself out a bit more and share things you wouldn't normally do.

People will now focus more on the photo then the likes. In my perspective, I feel like I have more freedom to post anything and not feel judged based on likes I get.

I saw the like button and seeing the count of the likes was a way of seeing feed back from your audience to see if your content is good or not. Making you take back from the likes on last pictures and post better content therefore getting more likes.

I personally think its a great idea to hide them from the peers because reading the articles, younger peers are always looking for them to fit in which is changing our society.
Life isn't about finding acceptance with people around you to fit in, just do what ever you want and the people who stay are the people who care. who gives if people don't like or accept you because at the end of the day we all have people to go home to that accept.
get rid of the likes completely because of all the stress and mental health that has came ever since Instagram aired.

Instagram Hiding Likes

I personally believe that this is actually a really good idea. It instantly takes away the competitiveness of users and it will help improve mental health and wellbeing. Social pressures such as 'Will I get enough likes?', 'I can't post that because I won't get enough likes' impact people in a negative way as they come to this every time they want to post. Hiding the likes also brings back what Instagram's real goal is as said by the Verge article, "focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes you get". Instagram wants user to connect and share without worrying about the likes, i believe that this is a really good step forward for Instagram and its users to trial out hiding the likes. I am happy to say that since the likes are hidden, my sister isn't putting so much pressure on herself for likes, she no longer says, "Can you please go like my recent? I want more likes." That's a win for me.

for general instagram users it may improve some peoples outlook on the app and being judged or how many likes each person has, and this will also improve some mental health issues for users that overthink their posts or have an issue with posting and likes.

but then for brands or influencers who have instagram as a job, it may impact them negatively as their posts may not appear on peoples feeds as often which can lead to them not getting their usual amount of sponsorships and promotions, as other brands and sponsors tend to look at likes and popularity of the pages.

I personally do not have an opinion on the fact that Instagram has taken away the idea of likes. I think that instagram likes can really shape a person whether its the person receiving the likes, or the person liking the image. I think that hiding the likes from others could be beneficial to users of the app because when they see the like quantity, they might not feel as self concsious because they dont have to compare themselves due to the likes someone could be receiving.
