Right after she was born she helped her mother,  Leto in giving birth to her (Artemis) twin brother, Apollo. At the young age of nine, Artemis asked her father (Zeus) for her eternal virginity as well as her gifts such as weapons, the bow and arrows. Artemis became a great hunter which earned her tittle as goddess of the hunt however, she also protected nature making her the protector of nature as well. In many ancient myths Artemis is portrayed as a young maiden with her bow and arrows.
