Most have deep trauma associated with not only systems but teachers and erasure through curriculum. For the first time, I can show them, thanks to NAS Scholars, that their story is being accurately represented in education and in Native American voice. That there is colonial practices and racism in policy yet with an education they can rise up and use whichever gift is inside them to join others for creating change.
