Using the text boxes works well by breaking up the content, and combined with the different shades of green makes it easy to read. Adding all the common names is a good idea as more people may recognise this weed under those names.
The only suggestion I could have is that since your brochure is targeted at a NSW audience, a distribution map zoomed in to NSW may give readers a clearer reference point to where the weed is in relation to their location.

I really like firstly your design, including key facts that are in a logical manner. One suggestion there is a typo, you misspell 'perennial' in your third dot point is all. Your little text box of species, family and common name is really distinct and concise there, so good job there. I might suggest to you, perhaps one or two sentences of identification in key points, as this is important for landholders in management, in knowing what to look for. Also perhaps add a caption to your figure to the distribution map.
Overall nice job and wish you best for the report.

Key facts are concise without too much information. There is a lot of green in the text boxes. Perhaps you could introduce a subtle yellow in one of the boxes. The information is ordered and the distribution map clearly indicates extent of this weed in Australia. 
The colours are fitting but a splash of a brighter colour (maybe in the text boxes) may attract more readers. 
The information included is succinct and promises to deliver more in the following pages.

1. I really like the different coloured text boxes, it makes them really stand out
2.the map is a good size and it is clear and easy to read
3. in the second dot point perennial is spelt incorrectly
4. opportunists should be singular and say opportunist
