He was one of the greatest painters of this time

He painted “The birth of Venus” and “La Primavera” and they are still one of the most popular paintings now

the nickname Botticelli means "little barrels"

It took two years to paint. He began in 1484 using diluted egg yolk and oil-based tempura paints and then finished in 1486. When Botticelli painted this he was the first one to use canvas versus wood. He also used alabaster powder to make the colors brighter and timeless. Right now currently it's worth $92.2m (£67.1m). Currently it hangs in The Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Italy.
