I've struggled with this in the past, perhaps because I was always younger in the profession, but how do you get extreme veteran teachers to try to get outside their comfort zone and how do I connect with those individuals without them thinking I "need something" from them? All too often I've heard of teachers who stay hypercritical of what their contract is...and won't lift a finger outside of it...how can one approach this?

I worked as a classroom teacher for nine years before accepting the coaching position at my school. While this makes for a safe and trusting relationship, it can also be uncomfortable when I have some challenging work/conversations to navigate. I want to learn more about defining coaching and creating a coaching vision and mission with the building. I also want to learn more about pushing into the transformational coaching areas, rather than settling in the land of instructive and facilitative.
